Reliability has become a crucial factor for consumers in the automotive sector. Everyone wants a reliable car that'll give them good service for a long time and give them full value for their money.
Sports cars typically have some of the highest maintenance costs, which further emphasizes how important it is that they are reliable. That said, we've compiled a list of some of the most reliable sports cars you can buy in 2024.
How we got our model selections: HotCars analyzed reliable sports cars according to their J.D. Power Quality & Reliability scores. Only models with a minimum score of 75 and up were considered. The following models are sorted from their lowest to highest score. Additional data is sourced from the NHTSA, RepairPal, CarEdge, and CarComplaints.

The Fiat 124 Spider - also known as the Fiata - has to be among the most underrated sports cars of the 21st century. Introduced in 2016, the Fiat 124 Spider is a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive roadster that uses the same platform, mechanicals, and interior as the fourth-generation Mazda MX-5 Miata.
Although the Fiat 124 Spider uses a different engine than the Miata, it's still as reliable as the Japanese sports car as the 2017 model received a decent J.D. Power reliability score of 75.

Introduced in 1989, through constant refinement, the Mazda Miata has changed the automotive scene forever.
For the 2023 model, power comes from a trustworthy 2.0-liter inline-four, churning out a respectable 181 hp and 151 lb-ft of torque. With this powertrain, the MX-5 Miata received a reliability score of 76/100 on J.D. Power.

Through the BRZ, Subaru offers enthusiasts a rare opportunity to own a fun, yet sporty car for a truly paltry sum. That said, the model also offers a nearly perfect weight distribution, due to several components of the car, including the engine and transmission, getting fitted almost at the center of the car. This helps the BRZ deliver improved handling, balance, and more enjoyment, which are some of the reasons we ranked the BRZ among the best sports cars you can buy.
For the 2023 model, the BRZ gets its inspiration from a highly dependable 2.4-liter naturally aspirated Boxer four-cylinder that people seem to have faith in, since it has a 76/100 reliability score on J.D. Power. The engine has an output of 228 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque and is mated to either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.

The 86 is basically a BRZ wearing a different badge. Using Subaru's Gunma assembly plant as their base, Toyota and Subaru jointly developed the 86 and the BRZ, and they’ve remained in production since 2012.
For the model’s second generation starting in 2021, Toyota is marketing the sports car as the GR86. We believe the GR86 is the perfect drift car from the factory, and for the 2023 model, it offers truly impressive performance backed by the same engine option in its twin, a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter Boxer unit that is also available with either a manual or automatic six-speed transmission. With a score of 76/100, opting for the GR86 is a no-brainer.

For the last seven decades, the Chevy Corvette has made its name as the most iconic American sports car ever. The Corvette's most attractive feature has always been the fact that it's a lot more affordable than comparable European sports cars, which is why it has stayed in continuous production for so long.
There are so many generations and model years of the Corvette to choose from, and for this article, we started with a sixth-generation model from 2012. The 2012 Corvette had a 6.2-liter LS3 V8 making 430 hp and earned a J.D. Power reliability score of 81/100.

If you want a newer Corvette than the aforementioned C6 and can't quite afford the current C8, we present the C7, particularly the 2017 model year. The C7 had many changes compared to the C6, most notably in the design department where it got a full refresh.
For the 2017 model year, J.D. Power gave the C7 a quality and reliability score of 82, setting it apart from the competition. This reliability, coupled with a 6.2-liter small-block V8 with 460 hp on tap, makes the 2017 Corvette a no-brainer.

It's sad that Chevrolet is discontinuing the Camaro's production run, but it also means that the final model years are some of the best ones to buy especially for collectors. Thankfully, the 2023 model is still reliable enough to survive for many years to come.
Any reliable Camaro would be a shrewd investment, which is why we've recommended the 2014 model year. It received a great reliability score on J.D. Power and had a wide range of powerful engines to choose from. The 2014 Camaro also received a face-lift that made it look better than earlier model years.

The legendary Mustang needs no introduction, as it's gone one of the longest production runs ever. The Mustang was among the pioneers of the muscle car industry in the ‘60s and will likely be the last one standing as Ford has already unveiled a new generation that will kick off in 2024.
Many factors have kept the Mustang popular all these years - its distinctive design, powerful V8 engines, and just how affordable it has always been to buy and maintain compared to other performance cars. The 2023 Mustang’s J.D. Power reliability score of 84 is a testament to its bulletproof reliability.

The Dodge Challenger has constantly earned great reliability scores on J.D. Power and with the 2023 model, it has continued this tradition, earning a reliability score of 85/100. Does it even come as a surprise that a Lexus model has made it onto yet another reliability list? Despite the brand’s SUVs and sedans taking the bulk of the plaudits where reliability is concerned, its flagship sports car, the 2023 Lexus LC, one of the best Japanese convertibles available today, also contributes heavily.
That a score of 86/100 is relatively low for a modern Lexus says a lot about the brand and the lofty standards it has set not just for itself, but the rest of the industry as well. Regardless, the LC’s score ranks it among the very best sports cars, and being a Lexus, the maintenance costs aren’t going to cause havoc on your bank account either.

The 2023 Miata we mentioned earlier is a great option if you prefer brand-new cars. However, if you want to save yourself some money without really losing anything in the looks and power department, we suggest getting the 2019 model.
The 2019 MX-5 Miata looks just like a brand-new model and uses the same 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 181 hp on tap. However, the 2019 MX-5 Miata blows the 2023 model out of the water when it comes to reliability, having received a J.D. Power reliability score of 89.

The 2019 Mustang came after a heavy 2018 refresh that featured a restyled front clip, a new dashboard design, and new wheels. Ford also got rid of the V6 Mustang during this time.
When it comes to reliability, the 2019 Mustang impressed many with its J.D. Power reliability score of 87/100.

Introduced in the '50s, the Mercedes-Benz SL-Class is among the longest-running sports car nameplates, and it's easy to see why. The SL-Class has always offered a stunning design, luxury features, advanced technologies, and speed. However, since a new SL can be pricey, we recommend getting an older one - in this case, a 2007 model - since it suffers from some of the worst depreciation rates.
Despite its heavily depreciated price, the 2007 SL-Class is still a fantastic option today as it still has a stylish design that will turn heads and is likely to give you stress-free service for many years to come, as a J.D. Power reliability score of 87 indicates.

There are many manufacturers that produce great sports cars, and an equal number that produce reliable cars, but very few can claim to do both with the sort of success and aptitude that Porsche can. Of course, its 911 moniker steals all the headlines, but very slowly, the smaller Boxster has started to catch up, and now it has arguably reached its zenith with the 2021 Porsche 718 Boxster.
Aside from being one of the most brilliant diminutive sports cars around, the 2021 718 Boxster also secured a strong reliability score of 88 out of 100 from J.D. Power. That makes it one of the most reliable German sports cars around, which probably explains why it has grown into such an endearing machine to the masses.

Being one of the most successful sports cars of all time, calling the Porsche 911 an iconic car seems quite underwhelming. It’s an icon, nonetheless, something other sports cars wish they were.
There’s so much to love about the model, from the engine to the sporty cabin, and the legendary exterior form. Even the sound from a Porsche 911 GT3 once converted a life-long Porsche hater.
Like in previous models, the 2023 Porsche 911 is also available in a wide variety of trims. Furthermore, while the model is more notable for its performance prowess than reliability, the Porsche 911 is equally a very reliable model, and it has earned the trust of consumers, which explains its 91/100 reliability score on J.D.
