Most traffic accidents could be avoided if more people practiced defensive driving on a regular basis. Even just simple things, like leaving a buffer between yourself and  the car in front of you, can make the difference being in an accident and avoiding a collision.

Unfortunately, people don't do simple things, like making sure there's enough room in front of, behind, and on the sides of them while they're driving, and situations, like the one in this video from TikTok user @whambaamteslacam, can happen.

It's good to look several cars ahead so that you can anticipate, based on how the drivers up the road are behaving, if you're heading towards a potentially dangerous situation. Because if you only look at what the car ahead of you is doing, and you don't have an adequate buffer, if they have to stop short, there's a strong chance you'll end up rear ending them, and then the car behind you might hit you too, like in this video.

Here's what the internet had to say about this one.

TikTok user @EvanHere "I don’t understand why when someone gets rear ended and DOESN’T keep holding the break after."

Though TikTok user @Your avg car guy took exception to this comment when they wrote that, "You try getting rear ended and thinking about anything except for the fact that you were just hit."

While TikTok user @J brought up the point that, "Bro that’s nothing. Why spend more than $300 just to fix a few scratches?"
